‘By providing training in high demand areas that employers want, job seekers become more attractive candidates and local businesses get skilled staff.’

Engaging training organisations and local business is important to help people find a job and employers find the right staff. In South Australia, CRS Australia has partnered with national learning and development organisation Performis to give job seekers another avenue to gain skills. The joint initiative offers job seekers formal qualifications in retail, customer service, warehousing and asset maintenance, as well as a work experience component.  The aim of the program is to increase job seekers’ employment options in markets that need workers the most.

‘The partnership supports Government initiatives that target skills shortages experienced by Australian businesses. By providing practical skills-based training in high demand areas that employers want, job seekers become more attractive candidates and local businesses get skilled workers,’ said Ann van der Woude, CRS Australia Regional Manager for Rural Central Region South Australia.
The work experience component gives job seekers exposure within an industry workplace and allows the job seeker to practice their new skills and show the employer what they’re capable of.  Not only does the initiative give job seekers a qualification and work experience, it has been instrumental in building individual confidence and readiness for work.

Performis training consultant, Tim Noles, says, ‘It has been wonderful to see the positive changes in the group as a result of the training. The job seekers have grown in confidence as a result of developing new skills and are focused and motivated to find work.’

Trudy, who
suffers from situational stress and depression, successfully completed Certificate III in Retail Operations with Performis. This led to a job offer with a national retailer. She said the training gave her a greater understanding of how businesses run and was important to help her confidence.
‘The training enhanced my job prospects and improved my self esteem to apply for a job,’ Trudy said. ‘I’m happy to have a job again. During my depression I found it hard to socialise, but now I’m looking forward to meeting new people, having a purpose everyday and keeping busy.’

On behalf of Northstar Management and Staff I would like to thank PERFORMIS for their professional support and assistance with the planning and running of the Certificate II in Retail Operations Course through the Productivity Places Program.
We were fortunate enough to have had a great response from clients interested in undertaking the training. As a result, the feedback from both the trainer and the clients has been overwhelming. The clients have found the content and structure of the course beneficial to their training needs and are extremely satisfied with the overall running of the course. We believe the course to be of great success and again we would like to thank PERFORMIS management and staff for their efforts in ensuring a successful outcome for all involved.
Many thanks!

Performis delivered retail training to CRS job seekers over 5 days in August. Of the 14 people referred, 12 commenced the course and 11 completed. The level of input and preparation by Brent Bell was excellent. He presented to a team meeting of employment consultants and met with me on a number of occasions and was always promote following up on messages or requests from me. He was very flexible with his approach so that it was easy for the needs of both organisations to be met. From what I saw of the training delivered by Sarah Ruiz there was a high level of energy and participation in the room.  Sarah was very obliging whenever I went to her with a request and has offered her services to provide feedback to the case managers about their job seekers who attended the training. This is appreciated by and beneficial to CRS Australia. I am sure that if we can get a number of these job seekers into employment or work experience that the staff at CRS Australia will be keen to refer job seekers to future training planned between CRS Australia and Performis.

Kadina is very grateful to be given the opportunity to work with Performis and offer our clients training in Certificate III in Retail Operations. Performis have been very professional and an absolute joy to work with. When the Kadina staff first met with Performis they advised us that they would not only focus on building our clients skills through training, but would also develop relationships with employers and work on our clients confidence, self esteem, motivation and identify any barriers such as literacy and numeracy. Performis have delivered in all these areas and more. They have maintained communication throughout, and the trainer for this course has been absolutely wonderful building a strong rapport with our clients and advising Kadina staff of the clients training progress and any identified barriers.
All clients attended each training day with enthusiasm and commitment which is a reflection of the excellent delivery. The Kadina staff have seen a dramatic change in our clients with regards to an increase in confidence, motivation and self esteem. We look forward to working with Performis again in the future and thoroughly recommend other CRS offices utilise this fantastic resource.

Working with Keeli McNamara and Performis has been a great experience for the team at Wesley Employment Services, Preston. We are a Disability Employment Network servicing clients with differing skills, medical conditions and/or disabilities and barriers to employment. Graduation at Impact last week was held with much joy and celebration.  It was a fantastic evening with many of the trainees bringing along their families for the evening.

The CEO of Impact commenced the evening speaking about the success of the training and how happy Impact was with Performis and the relationship that has been established.
I presented all trainees with their certificates and then had group photos taken.

The photos will give you an indication of what this training meant to them.
To conclude the evening Impact put on a huge supper and had some light entertainment which included one of the trainees singing.

Training at Impact was some of the best and most rewarding training I have done.
